The advertisement, sponsored by the National Republican Trust PAC, features a narrator speaking over images of Sept. 11 destruction and stating the mosque would be a "monument to their victory"

“And WHY does everything from RNN refer to everyone being racists????”

These days, more often then not, racism is used by some, as a political tool to gain a political advantage or fight legitimate opposition to their point of view.

Some examples:

“Obama is a Socialist or Obama is not good” -- Carter and others cry “racism”.

“Arizona has the right to enforce laws against illegal’s” ---Obama and others ’racial profiling”

“ Tea party Conservatives want smaller responsible government” --- “NAACP states the tea party is racist”

“ No Mosque at ground Zero because it was there that Muslim extremists brought down our towers and killed Americans --- “NBC, CBS and others don’t air and RNN suggests this is racist”

However, a member or former member of the Black Panthers calls for killing white cracker babies and there is no need for RNN and others to discuss this, since politically there would be no advantage.

It's the wrong time and the wrong place.Down the road I'd say it shouldn't be a problem??Now there are just to many bad memories. At my job one lady lost a son and another a niece.
I,along with probably 98% of the population ,have NOTHING against Muslims.
I think the same feelings would pop up if in 1946 the Japanese thought of putting up a social club at Pearl Harbor or the Germans the same at Auschwitz.

And if the Mosque was build there does anyone think there wouldn't be trouble??Then Obama would have to take a hour of his time and apologize to the Muslim world for the actions of one or two Americans

Yes it has. People need to remember how they felt 9 years ago and stop categorizing all muslims as terroists. What ever happened to religious freedom & equality for all? Isn't that what this cuuntry was built on?

The opposition to the mosque near Ground Zero, and some of the poisonous comments posted on this website are deeply disturbing. America as a nation was built on the principles of religious freedom and equality for all. The vast majority of muslims are deeply appalled by what happened on Sep 11, 2001, and by the ongoing actions of the fundamentalists. Islam as a religion preaches peace and tolerance, and the tiny minority of fundamentalist Muslims have completely strayed from the religion's teachings and purpose.
Muslims are Americans as well, and love this nation just as much as other Americans do. To try to prevent them from peacefully practising their religion in downtown Manhattan is a travesty, and undermines the principal tenets of the Constitution.

When American soldiers fought & won the island of Iwo Jima during WW II, they planted a flag there as if to say that place was conquered by us. When we landed on the moon we planted a flag there to show the world we conquered that territory. Having a giant shining domed mosque stand near ground zero is like a beacon that proclaims we were conquered in this place. The World Trade Center was a commercial building that had nothing to do with religion. Another commercial building should take its place.

People who are opposed of the mosque are saying muslim are guilty of the crime committed during 911? If we apply the same logic. Then they are guilty of all the crimes committed by all Christians including Hitler and Stalin. They should not build a church in Israel.

Wait a minute here. I was mis-informed. I understood the Mosque was being built in the exact spot of ground zero, where the WTC and it's surrounding buildings stood. According to the map, it is a couple blocks away from ground zero, on Park place. I certainly understand the sensitivity of many but it's not like it's the only religious building in the area. For me personally, those two blocks make a big difference.

If the Islamists are so intent on fostering better relations, why don't they scrap the plans for a mosque and build an Interfaith complex where all major religions can be represented? They don't want this, since the major backers of this project are the Muslim Brotherhood, nuf said.

"Has Debate Over Ground Zero Mosque Become Racist?"

Interesting question, what about this policy. That is here and now.
"Gov. David Paterson has signed a law that prevents New York City police from keeping personal information in a database about people who are stopped and frisked but not charged.

http://www.examiner.com/a-2730258~NY_governor_signs_law_limiting_stop_frisk_database.html

The law was signed Friday. Critics have said information from such stops can lead to future police suspicion and surveillance."

Miriam Reitner, what planet do you live on?

Muslims are commanded to lie to infidels, to appear to be their friends, and to destroy them.

Muslims have every intention to making this a Muslim dominated world through the murder of innocents if need be.

And if we are looking at this through secular eyes, tell me why a Muslim community center needs to be built in a neighborhood that is almost completely COMMERCIAL?

Its a terrible idea just for the fact of what happened sept 11 2001. Be realistic, sure the muslim community has the right to build it, but you are going to cause hatred and NYers will suspect you of planning future attacks from this mosque. I know I will. The fact that you would pick a site so near the trade center is showing a blatant disrespect for the americans especially the NYers who lost their family and friends because of a muslim attack. We did not bring the muslim religion into this attack, muslims did! It is not racist nor is it an attack on a persons religion, the objection is simply stating the obvious. If your intentions are only for good and to worship, can't you simply out of respect for the dead and to show your objections of using the muslim religion for violence and death, decide to pick another site in NY its a very big place!

I am a 9/11 victim family member and I support the building of Park51.

I think it unfortunate that a small percentage of negative people have fanned this situation with negative opinions and now it is polorized.

In my opinion there needs to be constructive dialogue between the involved parties and a peaceful solution is possible.

There needs to be less attention paid to the haters and people using this dispute for political gain. History shows us hate only causes more division and pain.

When my family member paid the ultimate price he did not see the race or religion of the people he helped to evacuate, he only saw people. Our family blood was shed that day and we do not blame an entire religion for an action taken by a minority of members.

Is sensitivity required? yes, but at the end of the day,our constitutional rights must prevail. In this country we are primarily immigrants bound together in a great mosaic called America and our forefathers paid for our freedoms with their blood, let us not dishonor their sacrifice.
