Off topic for a reason. AW or RF please comment. have either of you watched the entire speech that Congressman Charles Rangel delivered before committee today throwing down the gauntlet of "ethics" to his detractors? Please then answer for us, why MSM medias edits make such a eloquent, polite and well mannered explanation and challenge to the powers that be appear to be the rantings of a deranged and senile old coot.
Hooray for Charlie Rangel, hooray for Anthony Weiner, Hooray for anyone who will stand up to the rampant liars, sellouts and hypocrits who have disgraced the Hall of Congress who don't do "their jobs", refuse to "read a bill", and steal "directly" from us- their unearned salaries, have sold off our assets, jobs and cast families into ruin and worse.
If only MSM would report the news as it actually unfolded, complete unbiased and unedited we the people would be informed, make the right decisions when voting for our elected officials and perhaps learn to speak to, debate and challenge each other with the respect and dignoty that Congressman Rangel brought to the House each day, regardless of how angry, or how hurt, that he an honored veteren has served and sacrificed for our country...
Out of all the thieves, bagmen and loots with capital "$"

He didn't go AWOL to abandon his state, country and wife for an Argentine mistress. He didn't use the taxclause to say his residence on C Street was a church. He definitely smells like a rose when compared to the money chiseling siphon Geithner who now is in charge of the Fed. After all the money he lost, and was privy to divide with his criminal cohorts their wasn't one dereliction of duty charge levied.
WILL RNN TAKE CHARGE AND ASK THIS TOTALLY "HYPOCRITICAL" CARNIVAL SHOW ETHICS COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE ANY OR ALL OF THESE MAJOR CHARGES IN YOU RECEIVE ENOUGH REQUESTS FROM YOUR AUDIENCE?

In case everyone didn;t see the Rangel call to arms, on behalf of you the American people, ... the wily old veteren challenged all to come before you and for you to behold and "clean out" the house of all unethical activity at his expense and humiliation.
BELIEVE ME, THIS MAN KNOWS WHERE THE BONES ARE BURIED AND WHO LEFT "THEIR" FINGERPRINTS WHILE CHEWING THEM.

hooray for Charlie Rangel, hooray for Anthony Weiner, real patriots, with the guts to put themselves on the alters of sacrifice for "the good" people regardless of the consequences.

I am angry with a corrupt bunch in power that are making poor decisions with my life which are not in my best interest or in the best interest of the majority. These decisions are being driven by money, greed, politics, self interest, laziness and zeal for power. They are propagated with lies and fear, instead of honest intentions. Make the effort and examine the truth behind the words you are hearing don't just except the thought that "they are trying".

I must warn you though, when the truth is revealed to you, it may make you angry.

Some of the defining traits of conservatism are: aggrievement with what conservatives see as a government unresponsive to their wishes and agenda-driven to sabotage them; a black-and-white world-view framed in terms of good and evil that makes their wishes more than political, essentially existential; a belief that their wishes justify any extreme to achieve, armed violence included. Americans as a whole are not significantly angrier than at other times (IMO), but conservatives have found their voice as they rarely have before, and media eager to show how non-liberal they are amplify every conservative word.

For those who don't like Obama let's add up his accomplishments;
health care for the millions of Americans that don't have it, improvement of the ones that do have it.The only President that made the Oil company set aside billions for disasters' recovery. He improved credit cards and banks dealing with statements and made it a lot better to figure it out how much you owe.
Helped small businesses with tax breaks and allowed them to get loans.
Extended unemployment when we needed so bad. Help Americans with disability improving the law. Helped the American Auto Companies ressurect from the dead. Come on Americans please read the "right" news not the "unfair and unbalance news."

By the way just to add to the grief. The previous administration left us with a big mess that could only be fixed with money. Our previous President did not even acknoledge this country was facing serious issues until before the election. I knew something was odd in late 2008 when a lot of stores were closing, not only nothing was done to help but they were in denial. Obama is doing the best he can under the extreme circunstances he took office. We need the Democrats in the congress so he can finish the job otherwise we will be doomed of "conservatists" that will deny any help to our already so stressed population in need.

Like Richard said today, do we need a party to fill out Senate seats that their most priority is to look for an American birth certificate. The whole thing is so ridiculous, Obama's grandparents were American, his mother was American, what is not American about him, the fact that he loved his African dad and have part of him in his name?

Now that you are sick of me. Let's finish, do we really need a party that while the country is trying to recoup from the last beating, all they care about is name calling, birth certificates, putting videos and getting someone fired over it, calling for people to go out and provoke fights? Is that what we really need in our congress. For the first time in years I see the congress working to achieve things like social welfare. It is enough of the "unfair and unbalanced" party protecting oil companies, health insurances, banks and other biggies. They are the ones financing the "unfair and unbalanced party."

I am angry with the GOP party and america on a whole for the treatment of the way they are treating President Obama, who by the way only been in office for 18 months. Where was all this anger 8 years ago? They gave President Bush 8 years, when the first 4 was a mess but now they want to impeach Pres Obama. To all the people that voted for Pres Obama you could not have possibly thought that he would be able to come in and clean all of the mess in 1 or 2 years. He's not a magician.

Or Chris Dodd getting sweat heart mortgage deals and then lecturing us on finanical regulations. Or Obamacare being rammed down our throats. Since when can the government mandate we must purchase something when we do nothing? Then say we don't pay enough in taxes and then give our money to Hamas, the Pakistanis, Indonesians, the Muslim cleric who hates America? Or illegal aliens getting free stuff and then running the Mexican flag over Shea stadium? Sure I think we should be very happy the way the country is going.

Mags, you forgot to mention a few more things... Obama telling us to sacrifice that we ALL must have "skin in the game," while the first lady goes to Spain instead of investing in America, costing the tax payers $375,000. How about Obamcare for everyone, except our leaders and their Union buddies. Or bailing out certain car companies, when they could have used Chapter 11 and reorganized. Or stimulus to help mainly the public sector and special interests, all paid for by us, the taxpayers. Or Congress voting themselves raises while taxpayers especially in the private sector, lose jobs or gets pay cuts.

Yet, there are some here that don't see this obvious, elitist, corrupt, pattern by this administration and claim they are trying to help us. I wonder how it is, they don't see?

BETWEEN THE LIES, Obama has taken THE PEOPLE'S FREEDOM AWAY and MADE THE POLITIICANS or THE RICH RICH-ER ON THE TAXPAYER from Wall Street, banks, to Main Street, local politicians who live larger than the people they serve.

PUBLIC SERVICE IS AN HONOR AND A PRIVILEGE, AND IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY, STAY IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.

THE TAXPAYER has been GIVEN SO-CALLED CRAP 'FREEBIES,' AND ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS, e.g., crap events in state parks, while making the park, or state, a landlord for the vendor rent and sometimes with a percentage of the sales of the vendors, AND, KEEP THE PUBLIC PASSIFIED--NO RIOTS.

Similarly, an example of more corruption and making the politicians richer and THE PEOPLE POOR, AND NOT FREE:

California Official's $800,000 Salary in City of 38,000 Triggers Protests
Hundreds of residents of one of the poorest municipalities in Los Angeles County shouted in protest last night as tensions rose over a report that the city’s manager earns an annual salary of almost $800,000.
An overflow crowd packed a City Council meeting in Bell, a mostly Hispanic city of 38,000 about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles, to call for the resignation of Mayor Oscar Hernandez and other city officials. Residents left standing outside the chamber banged on the doors and shouted “fuera,” or “get out” in Spanish.
It was the first council meeting since the Los Angeles Times reported July 15 that Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo earns $787,637 -- with annual 12 percent raises -- and that Bell pays its police chief $457,000, more than Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck makes in a city of 3.8 million people. Bell council members earn almost $100,000 for part-time work.
City Attorney Edward Lee said the council members couldn’t discuss salaries in public without advance notice. The council then adjourned for a private session. About an hour later, the council members returned, and Hernandez read a statement saying the city would prepare a report on the salaries and seek public comment at the next council meeting, scheduled for Aug. 16.
Residents shouted in protest. Lee said he would have the room cleared if people continued to speak out of line. Police Chief Randy Adams said the fire department wanted to end the meeting because the crowd outside was blocking the door.
Easing Tensions
Then, in what appeared to be an effort to ease tensions, Hernandez announced that the meeting to discuss salaries would be held instead on July 26.
After the meeting, Bell resident Ali Saleh read a statement from a newly formed group called the Bell Association to Stop the Abuse. He called for an independent audit of city salaries and contracts.
On July 1 Bell took control of many of the city functions of neighboring Maywood, a city whose council members voted to contract out almost all services. Saleh also asked that Bell stop that process until the city’s salary investigations were resolved.
Bell has sold two general obligation bond issues totaling $50 million in the past six years, according to prospectuses for the bonds and information in the city’s annual financial statement for 2009. In that time, its debt has risen to $1,972 per capita in 2009 from $599 in 2004, according to its annual financial statement.
Inquiry Under Way
The city’s personal income was $24,800 per capita in 2008, according to its financial statement. That compares with an average of $32,819 nationwide, according to 2010 figures from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
Bell’s general fund revenue declined 4.6 percent to $14.1 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2009, according to the city’s financial statement. The city’s expenses rose 2.3 percent to $15.9 million in same period.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has begun an inquiry into Bell council member pay, according to Dave Demerjian, head of the office’s Public Integrity Division. He said Bell council members were receiving $8,083 a month, mostly by serving on city-related commissions.
“We’re reviewing the council member salaries to see if they conform to state law,” Demerjian said in a telephone interview.
California law limits the salaries of council members to several hundred dollars a month, depending on the size of the city, according to Hector De La Torre, a state assemblyman from nearby South Gate, who sponsored legislation in 2005 that limits how much council members can get paid from other city-related assignments to $150 a month.
‘Obscene Pay’
De La Torre said that after his bill was passed, Bell’s City Council voted to operate under its own charter, rather than adhere to state laws on how cities should be run.
“It seems obscene to me,” De La Torre said in a telephone interview. “People making $30,000 a year are paying taxes so that their council members can make $80,000.”
Adams, Bell’s police chief, said in an interview after the council meeting that he had retired as chief of police in the much larger city of Glendale, California, when Bell officials approached him.
“I told them they would have to pay me what I was making in retirement and the $165,000 I would make as chief of police,” Adams said.
Adams said he had been brought in to end corruption in Bell’s police department.
“Some of the former members of this force are in the federal penitentiary,” he said.
‘Streets Are Cleaner’
Hernandez, the mayor, defended the salaries in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
“Our streets are cleaner, we have lovely parks, better lighting throughout the area, our community is better,” Hernandez said, according to the newspaper. “These things just don’t happen, they happen because he had a vision and made it happen.”
Carmen Avalos, the city clerk in South Gate, said she attended the Bell council meeting to help educate people about the political process.
“This is what we are trying to avoid,” she said in an interview at the meeting. “The lack of fiduciary responsibility, the lack of transparency.”

Why Democrats Don’t Care about $9.7 Trillion Debt:

March 9, 2010

As reported by The Washington Post, “President Obama’s proposed budget would add more than $9.7 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, congressional budget analysts said Friday.”

CNN adds, “Of that amount, an estimated $5.6 trillion will be in interest alone.”

The Post continues: “The CBO (Congressional Budget Office) and the White House (are) … both predicting a deficit of about $1.5 trillion this year — a post-World War II record at 10.3 percent of the overall economy. But the CBO is considerably less optimistic about future years, predicting that deficits would never fall below 4 percent of the economy under Obama’s policies and would begin to grow rapidly after 2015.

“Deficits of that magnitude would force the Treasury to continue borrowing at prodigious rates, sending the national debt soaring to 90 percent of the economy by 2020, the CBO said.”

CNN adds that “By 2020 the (CBO) estimates debt held by the public would reach $20.3 trillion, or 90 percent of GDP. That’s up from 53 percent of GDP in 2009.”

I suspect that most Americans, if asked whether these numbers trouble the Democratic leadership and President Obama, would answer in the affirmative.

They would be wrong.

They would be wrong not because the Democratic Party or the president are economically illiterate or bad individuals, but because the Democratic Party and the president are leftists. And most Americans, including most Democrats, do not understand the left. They may understand liberalism; but President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and most Democratic representatives and senators are not liberals; they are leftists. And most Americans do not understand the difference between liberal and left. They do not realize, for example, that there is no major difference between the American Democratic Party and the leftist social democratic parties of Western Europe. They do not know that from Karl Marx to Obama, the left (as opposed to liberals) has never created wealth because it has never been interested in creating wealth; it is interested in redistributing wealth.

Therefore, unprecedented and unsustainable debt, a debt that will negatively affect most Americans’ quality of life, renders the dollar increasingly undesirable, and undermines America’s prestige and power in the world — these developments do not particularly disturb the left. They may trouble the president, the Democratic Party, and others on the left on some political level, but that pales in comparison to what the left really wants: a huge government overseeing a giant welfare state and a country with far fewer rich Americans.

Achieving those goals is far more important than preventing a decline in the American quality of life. The further left one goes, the more contempt one has for the present quality of American life in any event. The left regularly mocks many of the symbols of that life — from the three-bedroom suburban house surrounded by a white picket fence to owning an SUV (or almost any car) because Americans should be traveling on public buses, trains and bicycles.

As for the dollar, I can bear personal testimony to the decline of the dollar’s prestige. I am writing this column in Morocco. In Casablanca, my wife and I and another couple hired a Moroccan driver for the day. And when it came time to pay, the man refused to accept dollars; he wanted to be paid in either Euros or Moroccan dirhams. Yes, dirhams rather than dollars. But the demise of the dollar as the world’s currency disturbs the left as much as does America’s not getting a gold medal in curling at the Winter Olympics.

And as for America wielding less power in the world, that is a positive development for the American left. It is the world community as embodied in the United Nations that should wield power throughout the world, not an “overstretched,” “imperialist” and “militarist” United States.

I used to believe that left and right have similar goals for America, that they just differed in the means they wanted used to get there. I was mistaken. The left has a very different vision of America than those who hold the founding values of America, most especially individualism and small government. And if the price of a once in a lifetime possibility of getting to a giant welfare state dominated by the left is America’s steep financial decline, that is a price fully worth paying.

ONLY DAYS LEFT FOR ISRAEL or THE US TO ACT!
-------------------------------------
Russian S-300s in Abkhazia block possible Israeli air route to Iran:

August 12, 2010

Russian S-300 interceptors now in AbkhaziaUS and Israeli military sources told debkafile Thursday, Aug. 12, that a threat from Georgia was not the reason why Russian posted advanced S-300 interceptor batteries Russia in Abkhazia and air defense weapons in South Ossetia on the northern shore of the Black Sea -as Moscow officially maintained, but rather possible moves by the US and/or Israel against Iran and its nuclear facilities.
Georgia's armed forces do not run to the sophisticated warplanes, missiles or drones that would warrant establishing the high-powered S-300 interceptors for defending the breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia.Ordinary air defense batteries would do for deterrence.

Therefore, US military sources believe Moscow placed the sophisticated batteries on the Black Sea shore more as a counterweight for the US Sixth Fleet warships present in the Mediterranean and Black Seas and the two big American bases close to the latter waterway - the Mikhail Kogalniceanu Air Base near Constanta, Romania, and the Bezmer Air Base used by the US Air Force just 50 kilometers from the southern shore of the Black Sea.
Their location gives the US Air Force the freedom to operate over both the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
Our military sources disclose that attention was drawn in Moscow and Tehran to the exercises the Israeli Air Force has been conducting from the two American bases to simulate strikes against Iran's concealed nuclear sites.

They noticed in particular the Israeli Yasur CH-53 helicopter which crashed in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania on July 26, killing six Israeli airman and a Romanian flight captain. It was obvious to Russian and Iranian observers from the way the CH-53 crashed and the veil of secrecy clamped down by Israeli authorities that it had been engaged in practicing touch-and-go attacks on nuclear sites which the Iranians have holed up in tunnels burrowed in the sides of lofty mountain precipices.
DEBKfile's intelligence sources do not doubt that Russian placed the top-of-the line air defense systems in Abkhazia for intercepting flights taking off from the American bases in Bulgaria and Romania and heading east over Georgia and Azerbaijan and on to the Caspian and Black Seas to northern Iran.
Byt deploying the S-300s, Moscow has put paid to any plans Israel may have had for using this northern route for attacking Iran.
The deployment was also a message of reassurance from Moscow to Tehran: Although Russia is withholding the advanced S-300 interceptors from Iran it has its own methods for blocking an American or Israel raid on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities.

Ex-Bank of England Official: Dumping Bush Tax Cuts May Bring Depression

August 18, 2010

Many economists are worried about the possibility of a double-dip recession, but former Bank of England official David Blanchflower thinks it could be much worse than that if the Bush tax cuts aren’t extended.

“If we don’t act fast, a plunge into Depression is a growing risk in . . . the U.S.,” he writes in a column on Bloomberg.

“The so-called Bush tax cuts, which are scheduled to expire at the end of the year, should be extended as soon as possible.”

President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress want to keep the cuts only for those with income of less than $200,000, while Republicans want the reductions to continue for everyone.

The weak economy begs for the tax cuts, implemented in 2001 and 2003, to be continued, says Blanchflower, now an economics professor at Dartmouth College and the University of Stirling in Scotland.

The Federal Reserve’s recent decision to buy more Treasuries is a positive step, he says.

“But banks aren’t lending and firms need incentives to hire, so the Fed move isn’t enough, especially since quantitative easing will take time to work.”

Blanchflower notes that unemployment stands at 9.5 percent, jobless claims are rising, bank lending is weak, housing prices aren’t rebounding despite mortgage rates at record lows, consumer confidence remains depressed and consumer spending is slowing.

The whopping $49.9 billion trade deficit in June doesn’t help either.

“It’s time for tax cuts, which have the added advantage that they work quickly,” Blanchflower writes. “Firms respond to incentives.”

Rather than being eliminated, the Bush tax cuts should be adjusted to maximize job creation, he says.

In addition to extending the cuts, Blanchflower likes the idea of suspending the payroll tax, half of which is paid by workers, for 12-18 months.

“Households would experience an immediate 3.5 percent increase in disposable income that they could employ to sustain consumption and pay down debts,” Blanchflower says, citing American Enterprise Institute estimates.

“And it would give an incentive to hire. This would inject an additional $625 billion a year and would jumpstart the economy.”

Martin Regalia, an economist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, also says erasing the Bush tax cuts would have dire consequences, killing the economy’s chances for recovery.

"That's what you're suggesting, is a corporate bullet in the head," he said at a conference, The Hill reports.

"That is going to be a bullet in the head for an awful lot of people that are going to be laid off and an awful lot of people who are hoping to get their jobs back."

Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, has a compromise solution.
