Tea Party Movement: Political Fringe or Real Alternative?

From Rand Paul to Sharon Angle, the Tea Party has quickly gained political clout with the GOP. To some they reflect the anger of American voters but to others they are a fringe group fouling GOP elections and using race to scare the country.
The Tea Party rank and file are dumb sheep because Wall Street is funding the leadership.
Same thing happened in 2008 when the rank and file dumb sheep liberals voted in corporate Obama.
Fool Me Once, Shame On You, Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me!

American Crossroads, a new corporate outlet run by former Bush operative Karl Rove, collected more than $8 million in June alone and expects to put $52 million into this year's elections. Various laissez-faire, anti-government extremist groups will also add to the rising tsunami, including $45 million from Americans for Prosperity, $25 million from American Action Network, $24 million from The Club for Growth and $5 million from FreedomWorks.

Who Is Funding the Health Care Furor?

I think the tea party is a fringe but to many republicans it is a alternative. There main purpose is to destroy all social programs under the guise of fiscal responsibility. There are many seniors belonging to this group and there main objective is to destroy social security and medicare. I hope the republicans can reject them so they do not end up with unqualified candidate like ron paul son
The Tea Party was a Canadian rock band with blues, progressive rock, Indian and Middle Eastern influences, dubbed "Moroccan roll" by the media. Active throughout the 1990s up until 2005 when the band broke up, The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling 1.6 million records worldwide, and achieving a #1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999.
The Tea Party toured Canada on twenty-one occasions and Australia on twelve. In November 2002, The Tea Party toured Canada with symphony orchestras reinterpreting a decade's worth of shared songwriting. Their career together ended abruptly in 2005 due to creative differences.Oh my bad, wrong group.:-))
"Their career together ended abruptly in 2005 due to creative differences.Oh my bad, wrong group.:-))-Robert
No Robert, I think you have the right group. What other group could Caspian and Peter be referring too? I know they can't be talking about the tea party made up of everyday Americans, expressing their dissatisfaction with our disconnected and out of control Government.
mike the teaparty may be composed of everday peope but they are being hoodwinked by the leaders behind these movements. These people have good intentions but they rcently came out with a contract for america which is nothing more than one introduced ty newt gingrich and rejected by the american voters during the bush administration . The members of the tea partdy want fiscal responsibility but the candidates they are putting up are just lackies for the neo conservates group which back them financially.
The Tea Party movement is a real thing.
It started in Denville, New Jersey as the Silver Brigade by the senior citizens protesting the high school taxes being brought upon the senior citizens that could not afford them anymore.
Than we realized it just was not only seniors that were being affected by it, so they changed it New Jersey taxpayers, and went to Trenton with teabags,
We are on line as Newjerseytaxpayers.org
Whenever the liberals are afraid of something, be it an idea, a concept or in this case a REAL political movement, they try to discredit it or marginalize it with fake cries of "fringe" or "racist" or the ever popular "redneck" label.
Predictable nonsense in an age when people are too savvy to fall for that progressive liberal propaganda.
The tea party is a GREAT American initiative that realizes the over spending going on by this regime and the Democratic party. They can see the tax increases coming down the pike for all Americans not just the rich. Obama wants to tax everyone and everything.
His buddy Patterson wanted a soda tax... Plus his regime (many who evade taxes themselves- Geithner, Rangell, Kerry, etc) want to impose a VAT tax, a Wealth tax and are looking to repeal the mortgage exemption. Of course those who pay no taxes want to keep the gravey train rolling. So they support the high spending Democrats in Congress now because it means more freebies to them. Like extending the unemployment benefits from 99 weeks to 119 weeks. This oversending has to stop and the Tea party will bring about change.
And we have the scary Pelosi -who doesn't believe in the constitution anyhow -telling people they have no right to freedom of speech-this freakin, un- American ,Halloween character
What do you know about a talking head name Pat Condell? My cousin sent me this link about building a mosque at Ground Zero.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjS0Novt3X4
This guy Condell (who doesn't sound like a crazy right-winger) says the day the mosque is planned to open is 9-11-11. He also said, "Building a mosque on conquered sacred ground is standard practice, it's what Islam does".
I wasn't happy about a mosque being built so close to Ground Zero, but after hearing what this guy had to say, I'm dead set against it.
"mike the teaparty may be composed of everday peope but they are being hoodwinked by the leaders behind these movements....The members of the tea partdy want fiscal responsibility but the candidates they are putting up are just lackies for the neo conservates group which back them financially."- Peter
Peter, you got it all wrong. Nobody is being hoodwinked. The true tea party is simply a movement consisting of ordinary people demanding that government serve us with proper principles. Principles like responsible spending, limited smaller government with less control over our lives. As well as more honest politicians that believe in liberty and empowerment of the people. Whatever candidate that more closely aligns to these principles would be supported. They could be from any party, Republican, Independent / Tea party or even Democrat. Who cares who is contributing money toward this movement. These everyday Americans that are part of the tea party believe and will vote on principle not on a particular candidate. The tea party is a vehicle to get that message out.
"To some they reflect the anger of American voters but to others they are a fringe group fouling GOP elections and using race to scare the country." - RNN
The tea party reflects neither anger or racism but everyday Americans demanding fiscally responsible government principles. This is something YOUR current party in power knows nothing about, therefore You and some other Democrats MUST discredit in order to have a chance in November.
If the tea party was a "fringe group" you efforts may have worked but the tea party reflects the minds and hearts of the majority of Americans, so you are only insulting the voters you need to keep you in power, which means it is time to kiss your..(seats) goodbye.

Bush and left more than 4,400 American service members and tens of thousands of Iraqis dead.
the same people backing the tea parlike dick armey were the same ones that voted for increasing the debt during the bush administration. Dick armey who is now preaching fiscal conservatism and behind the tea party movement is the same one that voted for 2 unfunded wars a tax cut for the rich and medicare part d. Members of the tea party should not listen to the clowns on fox news beck hannity and cavoto who only preach ignorance fear, Watch cnn and other news before reaching conclusions. During a depression the debt will go up to provide the services like unemployment welfare .Rather than giving more taxes to the rich it would be better to give it to small business,But your beloved tea party is holding up bills in congreas. I do not see why the american public wants to put them back in office
"But your beloved tea party is holding up bills in congreas. I do not see why the american public wants to put them back in office"
The Tea Party is not in power. The Democrats are in power and they have done nothing at all to prove they are more fiscally responsible then the Republicans, actually for a similar time period they are worse.
Furthermore, they think they were elected to rule rather then to serve. They don't seem to agree with the majority on anything. Stop Obamcare? No. Less Spending? No. The Mosque? No. Arizona? No. Assisting the private sector instead of the public sector? No. Trials outside of NY? No. The Democrats are the real party of 'NO' when it comes to the peoples will.
In my view, their attitude and policies are dividing the people and hurting this country to the point, that we don't have an option but to throw them out. Anything would be better.
mike that was a typo error in stating the tea party is holding up bills in congrress. I meant the republicans who say no to everything. Be careful when you say anything would be better, The tea party priorities are different from the neo con conservatives like dick army and cato institute. Some of the recent nominees backed by the tea party like that lady in nevada who wants to eliminate unemployment and rand paul who wants to eliminate the dept of education. Some of there future candidates are not a john kennedy or ronald reagan. If they were more like ralph nader I could agree wifth you.But some of them could not qualify for dogcather. So please be careful what you wish for. I think the country needs a good 3rd party as a alternative but not these neo con republicans that ran this country in the ground and have the biggest job loss since the great depression.
I would like to add another comment. The tea party when they were attending discussion of the health care bill yelled screamed and would not let any one discuss the bill. I would not call this a well organized group but a mob and mobs do not belong in a democracy. Let themf state their opinion but other people have opinions also. This is not the form of a 3rd party but a extension of fox news
George, I agree with you that a good 3rd party would be best. The Republicans had their chance and blew it and even though the Democrats have only been in power for a relatively short time, in that time, they have created so much anger and division in this country with their Elite dictates, that we must vote them out, in order to try and take back our country.
Your comment about angry mobs of tea partiers yelling about the health care bill is correct, only in a sense. These town hall meetings were attended by everyday American people that were telling their representatives who would not listen to their emails, letters and phone calls,to NOT pass Obamacare but we knew it was already a done deal. Those meetings were never intended to be a two way discussion but a way to try and convince the masses and appease the crowds about what they had already DECIDED ON THEIR OWN and what the people were strongly opposed to.
I know the truth because I attended a meeting. It was so big it had to be moved to a new location the last minute. There were thousands of people. You could easily pick out the far right loons less then a handful in my estimate. You could tell by the cheering, the waving back and forth to each other and their evenly spread out locations in the auditorium who the Union or Democrat plants were, agreeing with their representative. My estimates amounted to about 5 to 10 %. The rest of the 90% to 95% appeared to be everyday citizens, disgusted and frustrated that their elected representatives had their own agenda and deaf to the peoples concerns.
You see, it was well past the point of dialog during the meetings and for me, it is well past the point of voting for any one of those representatives that ignored our voice and followed the will of their own party instead.
George, I agree with you post about mainsteam 3rd party candiadates,
In the last senate and congress races, Americans voted out republicans and voted in a democratic majority in both houses. Then Obama was elected by the American people. We have a MAJORITY of democrats running the senate, the congress, and the white house.
For any legislation that comes up in the senate or house -and all the democrats voted yes and all the republicans voted no, the democrats would win, because of majority vote
The republicans, cant hold up or pass any legislation-by themselves.
"The republicans, cant hold up or pass any legislation-by themselves."
Fred, the Republicans are not to blame for any of these Democrat policies that are currently dividing this country. However, they are to blame for the overspending and policies that led to the meltdown, back in the Bush years. A new party with fresh ideas would be best. IMO, the Republicans severely hurt the economy and the Democrats are making sure in the long term, we are dependent on them, instead of ourselves. This is hurting both our long term economic health and the very spirit of America. They must be voted out.
Ex-Bank of England Official: Dumping Bush Tax Cuts May Bring Depression
August 18, 2010
Many economists are worried about the possibility of a double-dip recession, but former Bank of England official David Blanchflower thinks it could be much worse than that if the Bush tax cuts aren’t extended.
“If we don’t act fast, a plunge into Depression is a growing risk in . . . the U.S.,” he writes in a column on Bloomberg.
“The so-called Bush tax cuts, which are scheduled to expire at the end of the year, should be extended as soon as possible.”
President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress want to keep the cuts only for those with income of less than $200,000, while Republicans want the reductions to continue for everyone.
The weak economy begs for the tax cuts, implemented in 2001 and 2003, to be continued, says Blanchflower, now an economics professor at Dartmouth College and the University of Stirling in Scotland.
The Federal Reserve’s recent decision to buy more Treasuries is a positive step, he says.
“But banks aren’t lending and firms need incentives to hire, so the Fed move isn’t enough, especially since quantitative easing will take time to work.”
Blanchflower notes that unemployment stands at 9.5 percent, jobless claims are rising, bank lending is weak, housing prices aren’t rebounding despite mortgage rates at record lows, consumer confidence remains depressed and consumer spending is slowing.
The whopping $49.9 billion trade deficit in June doesn’t help either.
“It’s time for tax cuts, which have the added advantage that they work quickly,” Blanchflower writes. “Firms respond to incentives.”
Rather than being eliminated, the Bush tax cuts should be adjusted to maximize job creation, he says.
In addition to extending the cuts, Blanchflower likes the idea of suspending the payroll tax, half of which is paid by workers, for 12-18 months.
“Households would experience an immediate 3.5 percent increase in disposable income that they could employ to sustain consumption and pay down debts,” Blanchflower says, citing American Enterprise Institute estimates.
“And it would give an incentive to hire. This would inject an additional $625 billion a year and would jumpstart the economy.”
Martin Regalia, an economist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, also says erasing the Bush tax cuts would have dire consequences, killing the economy’s chances for recovery.
"That's what you're suggesting, is a corporate bullet in the head," he said at a conference, The Hill reports.
"That is going to be a bullet in the head for an awful lot of people that are going to be laid off and an awful lot of people who are hoping to get their jobs back."
Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, has a compromise solution.
“The prudent middle ground would be to forestall any tax increases in 2011 and to phase in higher rates on upper-income households in 2012, when the economy will be on firmer ground,” he writes in The New York Times.

Caspian this is as good as it gets. I believe that if everyone sent copies of these three videos to all those who are altering and screwing up the bills in Congress they would all stop dead in their tracks in an instant.
Everyone else, let me know what you think.
The Tea Party has emerged with the sole agenda of beating down the liberals and the far left who have gone out of their way to remake America as a socialistic and militarily weak country, opposite from what the founding fathers ever imagined in their wildest nightmares.
This is a really good read for me. Must admit that you are one of the coolest bloggers I ever saw. Thanks for posting this useful article. In harnessing the youth vote, the Barack Obama campaign made major waves, and set an example for politicians to come.

Along with everything which appears to be developing inside this specific area, many of your points of view are actually very refreshing. However, I beg your pardon, because I do not give credence to your whole theory, all be it refreshing none the less. It appears to me that your commentary are generally not entirely justified and in simple fact you are generally yourself not really wholly certain of the argument. In any event I did appreciate reading it.
