Obama Rallies Base: Will Democrats Turn Out In November?

September 29th, 2010   (280 views )

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Arguing doggedly against returning
Republicans to power, President Barack Obama told Iowa voters
Wednesday that the GOP has been dishonest about what needs to be
done to revive the economy and restore middle-class dreams.
"We can't pretend that there are shortcuts," the president
said, addressing about 70 voters in a grassy backyard.
"When you look at the choice we face in this election coming
up," Obama said, "the other side, what it's really offering is
the same policies that from 2001 to 2009 put off hard problems and
didn't really speak honestly to the American people about how we're
gonna get this country on track over the long term."
Five weeks ahead of midterm elections that will determine
whether Democrats retain control of Congress, Obama confronted
stark voter angst. The first question he got was from a woman who
said of her son, a recent college graduate, and his friends: "They
are losing their hope which is a message you inspired them with."
Obama responded by citing a list of areas of optimism, ones she
could tell her son about it. He said his government is providing
more students loans, trying to encourage private job growth, and
making tough decisions now that will help the county reclaim its
rightful stand as the top leader in innovation and
entrepreneurship.
Over the long term, the president assured, "their future will
be fine."

i think obama is doing a hell of a job and whose so ever are slaming him give him a brake i also think that the government need to take the money they have and put it towards something real good such as an emergency back up for cases like out breaks for people who can not take day off from work for there kids etc. get guns off the markets for good, stop bad credit history from letting people get a job if the persons have a bad credit history they can not get a job because of that.

If the senate and house democrats would get out and point out to the voters the legislation benefiting the middle class by the credit card bill financial laws and regulation, health care bill the voters will come out. But it is especially important they point the distastrous results if republicans get back in to slash medicare social security. This tax pledge to america is nothing but welfare for the rich. Also they should point out these candidates for the tea party are incompotent and should never be elected to office

Are you people for real? you have got to be kidding, the democrats have OWNED congress and the senate since the 2006 elections - go check/google the latest approval ratings for congress, go ahead i dare ya

Tea Party? Incompotent? What about our own president and Vice president! what about them? --- President Obama NEVER had a private sector job, never managed a business or met a payroll in his life! His voting record in his "short" 1st term as senator is abysmal, he voted "present' more than yea or nay! What a joke, ok what about Joe Biden? Hes another CAREER POLITICIAN (we already have 2 many) He Plagiarized a paper in college, also never had a private sector job and insulted Obama when he was a candidate

The tea part is not perfect and its candidates are not perfect, but you can bet the house they wont have the same disastrous and reckless policies of the current members of congress!

BTW did you know that roughly 33% of Teaparties are registered democrats? The Tea Party has a higher approval ratings than BOTH sides of congress and a higher rating than the partison/agenda driven media (ALA RNN) FACT! FACT! FACT!

It does not matter if some partisan Democrats show up. This all Democrat government is clearly not working and the majority consisting of all parties know that. An all Republican government forcing their will over that of the people would be no better. This is not about Democrat or Republican but providing the necessary balance needed to run this country and do what is best for the American people, by allowing the peoples will to be represented. This "will" is represented by the issues and not the party.

Consider for example; irresponsible spending and not controlling the deficit, over taxing for wasteful programs or eliminating useful ones, questionable conflicts, not enough American jobs, favoring lobbyist and special interests over that of the people. The average American does not care what party addresses these issues, that matters only to the partisans and the politicians. The Democrats could have been the party to try and address these issues but they did not, could not or would not. Instead, for the most part they chose to make things worse and so they must go.

The tea party candidates are incompotent not members of the tea party.Pallidon program for new york is tg state cuomo is cheating on his wife. This guy belongs in a cage. ODonnell in tenn states she went to several colleges and lied. Ron Paul stated restaurants should have the right not to serve african americans and also stated we should apologize to bp oil co. The tea party voters are well in tenioned people but they are in the wrong party. The tea party is backed by dick army, fox news and other ultra conservative groups who only intentions is to turn the congress into lackies for corporations. Judge roberts in their ruling of the supreme court gave corporations unlimited spending rights, Insurance co finance co health insurance have so far contributed 7.5 million to john boehmer campaign who has resolved to overturn health care credit card and financial regulations. The republicans only want to give more tax relief to the rich and could care less abot the deficit because they left 12 trillio when bush left office. In ct there are 2 candidates for republican one governor and one for the senate .Both are millionaires and willing to spend their own fortune to win.Lind mcmcahon has spend nearly 30 million and never held office or created jobs. Her husband and father in law built up the business not her.Her opponent dick bluementhal has 23 years of experience as attorney geneeral and has fought for the consumer. For governor foley ran a business into the ground and walked away with 26 million dollarss. His opponent malloy has been a mayor and ran a successful municipal government. People should think before they vote with their feet and just want to throw the bums out because what they get in retur n will be worse

Congress has not worked first when the republicans were in they created a 13 trillion dollar debt by 2 unfunded wars a tax cuts for the rich in the middle of wartime medicare part d not paid for. When Obama took office layoffs were about 700000 per month. Most of the debt was created in trying to get out of this mess. You mean that you want is to put the same crew that put us into debt. The democrats should get out and vote and prevent this from happening. It will take several more years to get out of this depression created by republicans We are in a global depression and not to many countries have reduced unempoyment and returned to prosperity

"The tea party voters are well in tenioned people but they are in the wrong party."

The Tea Party is not a political party by itself. Whether Independent, Democrat or Republican they represent a view that opposes the establishment and blindly goes along with Obama and the current agenda. I agree those candidates are not the usual polished candidates but they offer an alternative to the establishment. If I could trust that a Democrat would not be influenced by Pelosi, Reid, Obama or their party and vote representing the American people, then I would vote the Democrat over the Tea Party or the Republicans. However, for the most part, evident by the health care bill, they are not Independent thinkers and to keep them in without sufficient checks and balances would be bad for us and the country.

It would not be the same crew at all. That's what the incumbent Democrats want you to think as angle for getting re-elected, since they can't brag about their accomplishments. Obama is the president not Bush. When Clinton was in power with a Republican majority, jobs were created and the deficit was under control and things were better. Unless you are happy with these last two years, which I am not, them breaking up this very poor team, certainly is a better choice.

you are putting the same people in power. John Boehmer and the majority of republicans in the house and senate were in the bush administration. iF they win they will slash the budget by getting rid of medicare privatizing social security repeal health care financial rules and regulations and credit card legislation. Also they would continue outsourcing jobs with unfair treaties. John Boehmer has allready receiced 7.6 million for his campaign thanks to the supreme court ruling turning our individual right to industry and let them spend as much as they want on campaigns. This is not the kind of progressive legislation I want to see and not a return to the bush years and the hoover mentality that is so prevalant in the republican tea party and those misfit candidates in the tea party.

"iF they win they will slash the budget by getting rid of medicare privatizing social security repeal health care financial rules and regulations and credit card legislation. Also they would continue outsourcing jobs with unfair treaties."

They may try to privatize SS but the American people and believe it or not the Tea Party, would not agree and would boot them out like in 2006. These Democrats are selling us a bag of goods. If Medicare is eliminated it will be because of Obamacare, which will replace it(except for the elites in the public sector) and not because of the Republicans.

Financial reform does not do enough to stem off another meltdown. It does not even include special interests Fannie and Freddie.

Credit card legislation only matters to those that rack up a lot of debt on their cards and is of little importance to most others.

Outsourcing of jobs and unfair treaties is a problem that the Republicans have not addressed but neither have the Democrats. Instead of Obamacare, if they did something about jobs in America they would have the kind of change we could believe in but they decided THEIR agenda mattered more then what WE were asking for. This administrations ideas are pre-set and not adjustable by what we say. If it happens to fit somebody's needs then you may like them. If not, even if 80% were against it, they will stick to their plan, which means they don't really care about us or what we want.

mike always good to hear your comments except most of the time your are wrong (just kidding).I think the republicans are trying to sell a bill of goods. The republicans want to balance the budget on the backs of seniors and middle class. Boehmer has indicated this in his speeches and more tax cuts for the rich. Medicare is in financial trouble but the republicans do not want to improve it but get rid of it.In regards to credit regulations it is not only for people who owe alot of money but it makes banks not add alot of charges and imform credit card holders when they are raising rates. They should have put a cap on interest rates but you know the lobbyists also known as cockroaches kept this out off the legislation. In regards to financial regulation it is a watered down version also influenced by the lobbyists influence on both parties. They are going to sell off properties of fannie & freddie. The democrats in the last few days tried to address outsourcing by co going overseas to tax their profits but were stopped by the republicans. It is un fair to domestic co to pay tax on profits but co overseas can keep them overseas indefinitely and would only be taxed it they brought them back to the united states. Your are right that both parties are responsible but everytime they try to correct it they are stonewalled by the republicans. When we get the next topic in the future we can again discuss it. At least your write in a logic and factual manner but we just have a different philosphy of government. But it is good to hear your point of view

The Democrats’ Desperation:

September 29, 2010

Thanks to the leadership of President Obama, House Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Reid, the Democratic Party is facing the biggest defeat in bi-elections in the past 110 years.

The modern record is a loss of 74 seats set in 1922, by the Democrats, at the height of the Harding/Teapot Dome scandals. This year, the Democrats will lose at least 80 House seats and perhaps as many as 100, and will also lose control of the Senate.

Currently, according to published polls, Republicans are leading in 54 Democratic House districts and, in 19 more, the incumbent congressman is under 50 percent of the vote and his GOP challenger is within five points. That makes 73 seats where victory is within easy grasp for the Republican Party. The only reason the list is not longer is that there are 160 Democratic House districts that were considered so strongly blue that there is no recent polling available.

There is no Democratic message out there. President Obama is heralding education — an issue never mentioned on the campaign trail. Secretary of State Clinton is trying to restart the peace talks in the Middle East. Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano is trying to enhance international air safety. Attorney General Holder is re-evaluating Internet national security taps. And a hundred endangered Democrats are scrambling about on their own trying to get re-elected!

The Democratic campaigns they are waging are formulaic. They make no attempt to defend the administration, but run away from it where possible. They never mention its signature legislative achievements unless to say that they opposed them. The words stimulus, health care reform, card-check, GM takeover, and cap and trade never cross their lips.

Instead, they are running almost exclusively negative ads. In a few districts, they have dug up dirt that they are throwing at their opponents. They base their campaigns on tax liens, failed marriages, DWIs and the like. Where there is a paucity of dirt, they resort to three pre-fab negatives: that their opponent favors a 23 percent national sales tax, that he wants to privatize Social Security and that he is shipping jobs overseas.

The Republican answers are simple. Candidates urge the 23 percent value-added tax as part of a Fair Tax reform that eliminates the income tax — a switch most voters favor. Some Republicans do back letting people under 55 divert one-third of their FICA taxes to approved investment alternatives, and most voters agree with them.

But, on the campaign trail, simply saying — accurately — that “I oppose any change at all in Social Security for our seniors” takes care of it. And Republicans rebut the jobs overseas charge by citing how the incumbent backed cash-for-clunkers, where 40 percent of the cars bought were foreign, the TARP bailout, which paid billions to overseas banks, and the GM bailout, where two-thirds of the jobs were overseas.

This is the sum total of the rhetoric the Democratic Party is using to stave off the biggest defeat it has suffered since 1860! It is a pathetic defense, easily pierced and defeated.

Now the field of battle will increasingly shift. The marginal Democrats — the freshmen and sophomores — are mostly gone. The seats of Southern conservative Democrats are largely already lost. Now the combat shifts to the previously safe seats occupied by many in the House leadership, including, perhaps, the seats of Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Banking Committee Chairman Barney Frank.

This new attack will force the Democrats to spend their resources defending their base and make it even easier to pick off marginal members. And, while Republican resources shift to the previously solidly Democratic districts, eager donors anxious to develop relationships with the new Republican majority will fill their shoes.

In the Senate, Republicans lead in eight Democratic seats: North Dakota, Indiana, Arkansas, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Illinois. In Nevada, the ninth, Harry Reid has been stuck at 44 percent of the vote since Aug. 1, when his Social Security/Medicare attack was rebutted, largely by americansfornewleadership.com, an independent expenditure group with which I work. He is dead in the water. His negative ads that flood the airwaves are not working, and the ads run by Karl Rove’s American Crossroads have him pinned down.

For the 10th seat, the GOP has five options: New York, where Joe DioGuardi is only one point behind Kirsten Gillibrand in the latest published poll; California, where Barbara Boxer is stubbornly below 50; Washington state, where the lead has seesawed back and forth between Dino Rossi and Patty Murray; Connecticut, where Linda McMahon has closed to 50-45; and Delaware, where Christine O’Donnell may yet come back and has closed the gap to 9 points.

And where is Obama while all this is happening? Proposing new initiatives on education!

Peter, I appreciate your point of view as well and respect where you are coming from. I honestly only want what is best for this country, primarily the middle class. My Republican congressman is very active sending out emails and invitations to town-hall phone meetings. I will raise your point about co overseas paying taxes and their Medicare intentions and hold him accountable, if they take over the majority in November. He basically did not vote for the financial reform bill because it would not sufficiently address another meltdown and because it did not include Freddie and Fannie. The alternate plan they proposed that included them was ignored. The same way I was basically ignore by my Democrat Senators with my concerns. You have to ask yourself, if the Democrats were serious about financial reform and cared about us, why not simply include these institutes that contributed to the meltdown? By doing so, it would also expose any insincerity by the Republicans and force their hand. I honestly believe the Dems are more about show, then substance, unless it fits solidly into their big government agenda.

Peter; the best thing that could ever happen to you is if social security is privatized. The reason I am saying this is, I dont beleive you know an f'n thing about social security.

Right now the federal govt, aka you the taxpayer, owes social security in excess of 10 trillon dollars. Thats correct. You are going to be double/triple taxed just to pay back (your money in the first place) -those (misappropriated) funds.

For 70 straight years, social security produced surplus, meaning SS collected far more in taxes than was actually spent. About a 10 trillion surplus-give or take.

You think that excess money went into a special account or a lock box. Think again pal. Those excess surpluss dollars were all spent by your govt. Legally. They make the laws.

The govt always thought that SS would produce a surplus. Not anymore. Your govt never expected 10% unemployment for a lenth of time. SS spent more on benefits -last year- than it took in. SS is running a deficit. First time ever.

To cover the the deficits, your govt in going to have to use fresh tax dollars as well as fica tax dollars to cover existing claims. Fresh tax dollars that could have been used somwhere else.

Bottom line is, your govt stole all the excess ss funds -that were supposed to be saved- and spent them on non SS stuff.

Now that they are broke, they are gonnas nickel and dime you. Lower benefits, raise the retirement age, cut medicare services and raise taxes on SS benefits, ect, ect.

Had your govt only kept their hands off the retirement funds that were ENTRUSTED to them, we would not be in this predicament. Even if the worker/ receipient ratio was 1 to 3 or less, there would still be a huge pool of saved money to get over that period.

Just think; a 5, 10, 15 billion dollars surplus anually, with compounded intrest every year. GONE.

So yes, I do beleive I could better manage my Social Security Trust fund money than your govt could.

And I only say your govt, because you and others on this board seem to think there is a difference in the repug-democrap parties. Better wake up schmuck, and stop supporting the very people who pick your pockets -daily.

Just for kicks, you should know the the creator of 'the great society' -LBJ- was the mastermind of liberating the Social Security trust fund monies. He used somthing called the unified budget to raid the funds. And if I'm not mistaken, LBJ was a democrap.

MikeG: Your original post was a stellar masterpiece. However, those follow up excluding the last were way, way off base.
We all know that the Republicans and Dick Armey's band of changlings are going to attempt to hijack TeaParty support into their camp. And we all know that they will strangle all attempts to re-educate and create American jobs, keeping with their status quos of outsourcing w/no taxation.
We know that they will dismantle healthcare even further but, leave the portion that requires everyone to have it for their private sector siphons claiming their is no money and that it will create private sector jobs. Another lie. Insurance moneys have been going offshore faster thean they can collect the premiums. We know that we would have WAR EVERLASTING and the continued hype of "hate" for the religion of Islam. Which will increase terror and retaliations not calm the situation in lands that will never adopt Westernization no matter how much money we pour in.
We know that the rest of the world is watching, to see if we have learned anything from the massive catastrophies created by the BushWinkle Administration, that allowed millions to be cast into poverty so that 2% could act like entitled spoiled brats in a dastardly feudal recreation of a royalty society.

John Boehner is a "fraud". To sellout the hard earned and specific rights guaranteed and already for paid for by SS, and a healthcare program that provides pain relief and healing to the infirm, children and elderly is barbaric and a declaration of war against our citizens.
The rest of their leadership are a bunch of flagellating hypocrites pretending with their hype to be espousing "family values", "conservatism", and strict adherance to the law.
Yet not one of them have stepped down after being caught face flush, hands knuckle deep in the nookie jars of their own sordid deceptions.

It was the Republicans who increased the national debt from $4.3trillion to $12.7 trillion w/ their election and reelection of the Bush clown whom they followed lock step into disaster. McCain likewise would have had us addicted to the crack pipe schemes of master villian Phil Gramm and his multitude of immunities for "ENERGY-GATE", perpetrating taxfraud, and his coup d etat DEREGULATION that nearly sunk ours and the entire worlds economy.

DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT ANYONE COULD HAVE BEGUN TO DIG US OUT OF THAT MASSIVE HOLE- WITHOUT INFUSING SOME MONEY, SOMEWHERE?

The mere fact that we still have a US automobile industry that is becoming more and more vibrant and competitive around the entire world has been completely overlooked.

What has private industrys, private bankers done for you or this country with their MASSIVE $3.1 TRILLION in your taxpayer money, that they were given in TARP plus STIMULUS which they promised would forestall foreclosures and create jobs? NOTHING!

OBAMA- ON THE OTHER HAND, STILL APPEARS TO HAVE $300B LEFT TO DISPERSE OF THE $834 THAT WAS GIVEN IN THE STIMULUS.

On the one hand you blame Obama for the STIMULUS that was approved before Bush left office, that the Bush Administration and his stink tank fully endorsed.
Some bankers even hinted at going directly into implementing "martial law" around the entire country, if they weren't rescued and it wasn't passed. So where is your much needed disapproval and venom toward them
for all of their incompetance and treacherous scheming that keeps them hoarding while america suffers?

If their hasn't been significant job creation in the private sector the blame rightfully belongs with the private sectors gurus and financiers who have done nothing.---> THE FEDERAL RESERVES PRIVATE BANKING CONSORTIUM

They have hoarded the profits squeezed out of the 3,000,000 additional layoffs they beancounted to give themselves massive bonuses and golden parachute payoffs.
They haven't prosecuted the master criminals, nor will they, those who sent us into this tailspin. So they, in essence have created their own hellish distrust that has stagnated growth slowing allother systems that feed them. Theirs has always been a gravy train of feasting off the pains of someone elses labor and hard work.

No. Sorry Mike, there is going going back down the paths of disaster "status quo" with the same flying monkeys, who will do as they have done before- ignore all of the rules that protect citizens, from connivving thievery and pull the rug away from millions of Americans just to suck up to lobbyists and money, who choose to hate and ignore our people.
Money that was stolen throughout the Administration of Fear with their retarded compliance.

The social security can easily be fixed by raising the retirement age or lifting the cap on wages. You are ignorant if you think privatization is the answer. Just look at the losses for 401K in 2000 & the republican depression of 2007. At least social security does not have losses of 59% caused by the reepublican deprression of 2007. It is cowardly politics that rules the day. Unfortunatly.

I'm also for rentioning illegals to serve in the military. There are 10 million able bodied adult wops wandering around this country, freely, while someone else is protecting their asses.

People who retired in 2007 with a 401k lost alot of theit money and will never earn it back. Senator Roth a republican stated this was never to be a total source of income. John, just a note about the US auto industry. As you said...very vibrant. Ford and GM are the number one makers around the world. But the are not "American" companies. Gm and Ford- north america- are just subsidiaries of the global entities.
What monies Ford and Gm make in foreign lands, stays in foregn lands.

Bailing out the big 3 with American tax dollars was a major mistake. They have the money, they just didnt want to repatriate it- and pay the 35% corporate taxes on it when they did.

We got taken to the cleaners with the bailouts and cash for clunkers.

John; What is the answer to the following?:

Both GM and Ford make automobiles that get more than 50 miles to the gallon. There are millions of these cars on the roads all over the world, right now, as I type. Problem is...they are not being sold in the United States. Why is that?

Hey Peter. I'm laughing all the way to the bank. All 401k's, 403b's ect, have to, by law, have money market and short term bond funds as part of the portfolio.
You can move your funds around in the portfolio, but cant remove the funds from said portfolio until you are 59 1/2 years old.
There is saftey in a 401k, but unfortunately not many people are aware of it. I have 150 is SS and when the time comes I want it back. I dont think I should be re-tax'd to get my own money. Had that 150 earned market interest over its life it would be worth 280. They already raised the retirement age on me once. They already raised the amt of FICA and medicare witholding taxes on me once. Do I think they are going to raise FICA/mdeicare taxes again? Yes. Do I think they are going to raise the retirement age again, Yes. Raise the tax ceiling? Of course. They wouldnt have to do any of this had they not stolen/borrowed the money in the first place.

Peter: Do you know what it means when the States say they have underfunded state worker retirement/pension liabilities?

They arent saying that the state workers did not dutifully pay into their retirement funds every week. What they are saying is, that they, the state, didnt pay their end when they were supposed to. That they had the money earmarked for pension payments, but decided to use that money for somthing else. Or took money from the pension accts and used it for other purposes.

Some state and local retirement systems are very healthy. Why is that? Because the kept their retirement accounts seperate from their general accounts. They never mixed the money. They never used their retirement funds for other purposes. Some even saw the writing on the wall and moved out of stocks and into bond and cash accts. Like me.

Not everyone is ill-informed Pete.

Peter and John: Why is it that GM-North America went bankrupt? They sell more than a million cars, trucks, and suv's a year.

They went bankrupt because they could no longer pay their retirees...So why is that?

Because they 'borrowed' hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars from the employee retirement funds, and used those monies to finance the factory expansion into Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and eastern and western Europe. Now thy are having a problem paying it back.

Not to long ago, this practice of borrowing from employee accts was un-ethical and illegal. But with the passage of the omini 'unified budget' law, of the LBJ administration, it became law of the land.

The corporate rationl is, if the federal govt can do it with social security, then we can do it too.

Obama not only saved American jobs and kept American(perhaps in name only) supremacy in an industry that Republicans tried to give away to foreigners and further shrink American wages, he has assured and given us electric modified cars in abundance.

As far as the auto monopolies they gave tit for tat in tandem with their sucking up to big oil who made sure that mileage standards remained abysmal.
In Europe they got 50mph cars but they paid on the bsck end with their gas at double the prices that we paid here.
We've covered that scheme here as you know, all during the Bush reign of stupidity, dishonesty and maximum terror that was lorded over this country.

Obama wants to reign in the offshores and make them pay their rightful percentage on offshore profits. Republicans want them to skate unscathed, maxing their stranglehold and to leave us holding the bag for all economic woes and debt as well as paying for their defense with our taxes and our troops lives.

Kudos on your fiscal planning. Stay one step of the learning curve. Enjoy!

John, I am not asking whether or not the Republicans can be trusted to follow through, only whether you agree with the points in the following pledge. These are the values of most Americans, the tea party, conservatives and those coming to America for a better life. Most people rather keep more of what they earn. Most people want government to be responsible. Most want this to be the land of opportunity. Most want a strong military and security. Most want less government intruding in their lives.

The major themes of “A Pledge to America” include:

• A plan to create jobs, end economic uncertainty, and make America more competitive.
•A plan to stop out-of-control spending and reduce the size of government.
•A plan to repeal and replace the government takeover of health care.
•A plan to reform Congress and restore trust.
•A plan to keep our nation secure at home and abroad.

Some however, disagree. They want big government regulating and providing for us and the masses but government is not capable of assuming that role properly. Instead they often make things worse. For example, some form of bailout spending was necessary but the Democrats decided to go too far and this attitude is extending this recession. Instead of fixing what was broken in healthcare, addressing jobs, the economy, SS and Medicare, they had a pre-written plan of big government transformation. So did they spend too much because of the meltdown or were they actually intending to spend even more had the meltdown not occurred? If Obama wants to fix these wrong Republican practices, like reign in the offshores, then what is he waiting for? Why does federal education bills, Obamcare and other big government programs seem to matter more?

MikeG: This is not a damned if you do nothing and let corporates run amok, damned if you attempt to regulate with government situation. These are not two separate entities. The superior operation is run by the elitists and their special interest multinational conglomerates and the government the way it is presently stacked with CFRs and play for pay members runs interference as they do the end run out of this country claiming ignorance and foul whenever they are caught red handed.
It's a kibuki theatre. Who's going to take the foul for the team to maintain status quo? Then... Ok guys where do want to set me up in the corporate world. Don't worry just call me when you need me to come back to block for you again.

As much as we all seem to want to place all of the blame on Obama because he is the man on the the one and the one who made the promises to America. It was the globalist and corporate sleazebags of both parties that were left to draw up the bills that got so watered down, convoluted and almost not worth the paper that they are written on.

I still feel that he is a quick study, has learned the hard way the way that Washington and the powers that be have worked in tandem to make him a laughingstock of their jokes while things were slowed to the snails pace that was always their plan. We reduced to 3rd world wage slaves with less and less control over our lives or say in what they do.

I care not about "their" national deficit its theirs let them deal with their lenders. Ultimately they can just print the money or stamp out the and approve credit to them and nobody would be the wiser. With $721trillion already out there in amorphous cyber CDS whats another $13T.

Defense where is it? Do you really think that our armed forces is better served out in the never, never lands is going to stop a lone terrorist from boarding a jet plane from whereever, or crossing an unmanned border, or boating onto our shores. Nah!
Don't you think that our allies and not US citizens should be paying our government for the protections they have gotten from our military bases.
The corporates sold that idea, as well. The government makes good with our money not theirs.
Here businesses pay for their own security. Out there in hostile foreign lands we pay the full tab for globalist security. There is no national pride, no sacrifice, no compensation just obscene bonuses and humongous profits to globalists.

So the best thing I can say and the only thing we the American people can do with some degree of having an effect is what I've stated get as many CFR sell outs- out of their key positions as possible, and force the wizards behind the scenes to re-think their disingenuous treacheries. When the powers begin to realize what the cost of grooming their flunkies and keeping them all in line will cost them at each and every election, just maybe...

That would be my strategy, keep it simple stay focused on the key target committees, force them to tow the line on every decision that will affect us- Viola! No stress, no bother.

Remember the Serenity Prayer! God will pull us through.

fred & peter- Once upon a time there were municipal bonds that enabled us to take stock in the building of our country and do so with pride and with a generous return.
Then the globalists took over... it's no longer good for them to back American stability, when the new objective is to have it dismantled. Go figure.

10 Reasons Why Obama’s Is The Most Failed Presidency In Modern Times:

September 19, 2010

On November 2008, Barack Obama was elected 44th President of the United States. His election was a truly historic moment, not only because he was the first African-American elected to the nation’s highest office, but also because Obama promised so much during the campaign.

Obama promised to be a post-partisan, post racial president. He promised hope, change, and a new era of transparency. Obama and his supporters insisted that he was entirely qualified to lead the country, despite his lack of leadership experience and the vague substance of his campaign promises. His entire campaign was based on the idea that he was completely different from anyone who served in the Oval Office before.

The reality is that the Obama presidency has fallen far short of the high expectations. In generally every area, the new administration has failed to deliver on its lofty promises. Obama has proven himself to be quite tone deaf to the needs — and will — of the American electorate. Never before have arrogance and inexperience converged in such a way as they have in the White House since January 2009.

With that said, here are 10 reasons why Obama’s is the most failed presidency in modern times.

Associations With Less-Than-Savory People

Barack Obama has had a long history of associating himself with people on the wrong side of either the law or ethics. Among those are his associations with radicals of different eras. He has maintained a friendship with unrepentant domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn for many years. He was a disciple of radical Saul Alinsky – so much so that Obama chose his college friends to fit the Alinsky model. Another radical, this time Muslim activist Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour, helped Obama get into Harvard Law School. And let’s not forget his association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in whose church Barack and Michelle Obama sat for over two decades. The president’s associations with radicals such as these do little to help Obama paint himself as a moderate member of the Left.

President Obama’s poor choice of associates extends to the choice of some scandal-plagued people for key positions in his administration. Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson was Obama’s choice for Secretary of Commerce until he resigned in the midst of a scandal involving his alleged exchange of state government contracts for contributions to his re-election campaign. Obama picked former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle for Secretary of Health and Human Services until a tax scandal derailed his chances. Another alleged tax cheat, Timothy Geithner, was confirmed as Secretary of the Treasury.

If a man’s associations are indicative of his character, what are we to think about Obama’s?

Too Many Vacations & Parties And Too Much Golf

In an economy in which many people are out of work, while others are forced to live on less money and forgo extras and luxuries, the Obamas have shown an utter disregard for the plight of the American people. The president and First Lady have enjoyed lavish vacations and thrown tony parties, and President Obama hasn’t skimped on his golf game.

I couldn’t find an exact count or list of the vacations the Obama family have taken since taking office, but this summer, the press coverage was wall-to-wall, with them taking trips to Panama City Beach, Bar Harbor, and Martha’s Vineyard. Oh, and then there was, of course, Michelle Obama’s infamous trip to Spain. Needless to say, many of the Right have been critical of Obama’s vacation habits. One clever nickname given to Obama’s tenure is the “Clark Griswold Presidency.” (An interesting side note: while researching for this post, I had a difficult time finding lists of vacations, but I found plenty of leftist blogs and opinion pieces attempting to compare Obama’s pricey trips to Bush’s quiet vacations to his Texas ranch.)

In addition to their heavy vacation schedule, the Obamas have not let up on their White House entertaining in this economy. They have hosted elaborate Super Bowl Parties and events for lawmakers. For the first few months, the President and First Lady held an event every week on the White House grounds. One of the most notorious Obama parties was the state dinner for Mexican President Felipe Calderón, which included a four course meal, an exquisite night-club-style tent on the South Lawn, and a performance by Beyoncé. Another glitzy party honoring Sir Paul McCartney came complete with performances by musical heavy-hitters and cheap shots at the expense of President Bush. All of this while Americans struggle to make ends meet.

Obama’s fascination with golf has been come an issue of both consternation and derision. As of July, the president had played 41 rounds of golf, which averages out to more than one round two weeks. He took much heat for playing golf the day of the funeral for Polish President Lech Kaczynski. (To be fair, the Iceland volcano prevented him from flying to Europe to attend, yet Obama never visited or signed the guestbook at the Polish embassy.) Obama has also endured criticism for his multiple golf outings during the oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. No word on whether his handicap has dropped along with his approval ratings.

Dependence On The Teleprompter

Much has been made about President Obama’s rhetorical skills. Sympathetic media outlets have hailed him as an exemplary communicator, but, while he is a good speaker, he doesn’t quite possess the silver tongue the mainstream media claims he has.

Obama is notorious for using a teleprompter during his speeches. Obviously this isn’t unusual at all, as presidents have used teleprompters as long as they’ve been available. However, this particular president may rely too much on his teleprompter, and it has become a source of ridicule across the country.

One clever blogger has set up a blog from the point of view of the President’s teleprompter. Another blog seeks to monitor Obama’s teleprompter bloopers, going so far as to call him the “Teleprompter President.” Less than hostile media outlets like The Onion, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, and even Hardball With Chris Matthews have either made fun of or chastised Obama for his teleprompter overuse.

Is Obama not the orator we’re supposed to believe he is? Is he too dependent on the teleprompter? I’ll let the videos speak for themselves:

Too Many Apologies

President Obama seems obsessed with what he thinks of as repairing the image of the United States on the world stage. He has gone out of his way to try to make amends for past American foreign policy, especially throughout 2009 when he seemed regularly to make speeches apologizing for America’s sins. Bloggers, pundits, and members of the media on the Right have come to dub this Obama’s Apology Tour. Of course, the folks at Media Matters for America have balked at the notion that their secular messiah is apologizing, but here’s just a sample:

Mr. Obama told the French (the French!) that America “has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” toward Europe. In Prague, he said America has “a moral responsibility to act” on arms control because only the U.S. had “used a nuclear weapon.” In London, he said that decisions about the world financial system were no longer made by “just Roosevelt and Churchill sitting in a room with a brandy” — as if that were a bad thing. And in Latin America, he said the U.S. had not “pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors” because we “failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas.”

Obama infamously bowed in deference to Japan’s Emperor Akihito. He refused to allow the U.S. flag to fly over sites in Haiti during early relief efforts there. He made a famous speech in Egypt in which he promised a “new beginning…based on mutual interest and mutual respect…”

Statesmen in the past have demurred from criticizing past American policy, even when they disagreed with it. Obama has taken a much different course, and it’s part of the changes that have helped lead to his unpopularity and failure as president.

Placing Blame Instead Of Taking Responsibility

One recurring theme of the Obama administration is “blame Bush,” or as Obama likes to put it, “the last eight years.” Obama loves to lay the blame for the current economic crisis at the feet of the Bush administration, as if he’s in some sort of perpetual campaign mode and Bush is the opponent. It’s an odd strategy for a president who, in his inaugural address, promised:

…an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our politics.

Of course, the reason for the mess the economy is in is a complex one, and if anyone is to blame, it’s an array of people on both sides of the political spectrum. Yet Obama continually sees fit to play a blame game, as though attributing the blame will make the crisis go away. His rhetoric is a smokescreen to obscure his administration’s clueless economic policy and inaction beyond massive spending bills.

Another area in which President Obama has famously blamed Bush for calamity is the Gulf Coast oil spill. Ironically, in one speech he indirectly blamed Bush right after condemning BP and others involved in the catastrophe for pointing fingers at each other. Obama fired shots at the Bush administration while dragging his feet on an active response to the spill, a lackadaisical response even the New York Times noticed.

The American people expect their president to take responsibility for the problems and issues the country faces. Obama has instead chosen to blame President Bush for some key issues during his time in office, a course of action that smacks of both disrespect and desperation.

The Czars

President Obama has an abnormally large circle of “czars,” or appointed advisors, in his administration. Appointing czars isn’t unusual, as past presidents have had czars of their own. Obama, however, outdoes all his predecessors. He has not one, not two, but 35 of them, 24 of whom are in positions created specifically by the Obama administration. Obama’s czars cover a wide range of areas, including executive pay, the California water crisis, “climate change,” and sexual assault and domestic violence issues.

Because the czars are appointed directly by the president, they do not require congressional approval, and they are not accountable to anyone put the president. Many of them also report directly to the president. Again, Obama isn’t doing anything unusual in principle, but the sheer number and scope of his czars is unprecedented. Many of Obama’s czars are from the academic ranks and have little practical experience. What’s worse is that many of Obama’s czars have some seriously scary Leftist credentials, including:

• Van Jones, “Green Jobs Czar” from March-September 2009, a communist who produced an album by cop killer and leftist cause célèbre Mumia Abu Jamal.
• Cass Sunstein, Regulatory Czar, who believes in devoting greater powers to the presidency and devoting government funding for abortions.
• John Holdren, Science Czar, whose views go hand in hand with his former colleague, the population and ecological alarmist Paul Ehrlich.
• Elizabeth Warren, upcoming Consumer Czar, who is called the “left-wing patron saint of so-called consumer protection.”
• Donald Berwick, Health Czar, who said:

“Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.” He used this favorite Obama term in the context of praising Britain’s socialized medicine system as “a global treasure” and “I love it.”

Obama has been under fire from both sides of the aisle for having too many czars. The late Robert Byrd (yes, the senator for whom half of West Virginia is named) said of the czars, “[t]he accumulation of power by White House staff can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances.” The American people should take care to learn about Obama’s czars and the frightening views some of them hold. Their ideas and policies could lead to more than the failure of Obama’s presidency.

Obama’s Obsession With Islam

President Obama has had a strange habit of seeming to placate Muslims. It’s been an issue since the 2008 campaign, in which Obama’s Islamic heritage was discussed heavily. For what it’s worth, Obama claims he has never been a Muslim and that he is a Christian. Nevertheless, his seeming obsession with Islam is discomfiting to many Americans.

Obama has gone out of his way to revise history, painting Islam as a peaceful, mainstream religion that is concerned with human dignity and rights. His infamous Egypt speech was full of references to the supposed benign nature of Islam. In his 2010 Ramadan message, Obama said that “Islam has always been part of America,” rewriting history in a bizarre way.

Some of Obama’s actions have engendered reactions ranging from outrage to ridicule. In April 2009, the president bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, causing a firestorm of controversy and speculation of his motives. In 2010, NASA chief Charles Bolden reported that Obama asked him

…to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering…

Needless to say, Bolden’s statement elicited laughter among the outrage.

Most recently, Obama’s handling of the Ground Zero Mosque controversy has left him looking flat-footed and awkward as well. The president came under fire for seeming to voice support for the mosque while speaking at a Ramadan dinner. In clarifying his remarks, Obama seemed to turn toward a more philosophical discussion of rights while apparently ignoring the fact that the majority of Americans oppose building the mosque.

Out-Of-Control Spending

President Obama has revealed his true colors in his approach to this economy. He is a clear cut devotee of Keynesian economics – most specifically the notion that governments should engage in deficit spending during a slow economy in efforts to stabilize it. The fact that the economy has improved little to none despite the government’s spending hand over fist proves the myth of Keynesian economics and another failure of the Obama presidency.

Under Obama’s watch, federal spending has increased to nearly a quarter of GDP for the United States. That’s right: nearly one fourth of our economy is government spending! The federal budget deficit alone was nearly 10% of GDP in 2009, a post-World War II record. Obama shows no sign of letting up.

The Obama spending era began in earnest with the $862 billion dollar economic stimulus package, which was loaded with pork and contained some questionable expenditures. Congress passed a nearly $1 trillion dollar health care bill under Obama’s watch, and the spending has kept going since. The president has proposed bank bailouts, “cash for clunkers,” infrastructure spending, and even a new jobs bill that has been viewed as the equivalent of a second stimulus package.

With all this spending, the unemployment rate has hovered near 10%, and it seems like every sign of good economic news is balanced by bad news. In August, one poll showed that 61% of respondents thought that the economy has either stayed the same or gotten worse under Obama. Senate Democrats have even rebelled against some of their own party’s leader’s spending wishes.

So, why does Obama keep spending? I think the answer is that he doesn’t have any other economic policy. Clearly, the economy has faltered, if not failed, under Obama.

The Gulf Coast Oil Spill: “Obama’s Katrina”

On April 20, British Petroleum’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sank into the Gulf of Mexico, causing a large oil leak into the Gulf. The incident created a situation that was an environmental catastrophe, a public relations nightmare for BP, and an unspeakably horrific tragedy for the families of the 11 employees who died in the explosion. President Obama’s response was a delayed and characteristically tone deaf one. The disaster has come to be called “Obama’s Katrina,” though naturally there have plenty of efforts on the Left to debunk that appellation.

Obama waited over a week from the time of the explosion to begin to address it. In response to the spill, Obama has done some strange things, some of which have added to the criticism he has received. Obama declared a moratorium on offshore deepwater oil drilling, a move which could potentially cost tens of thousands of jobs and damage the economy of the Gulf Coast. Obama demanded that BP set up a $20 billion escrow account to cover the costs of damages from the spill, rather than allowing BP to respond their own way (which could have repaired some of BP’s public relations damage).

Even Obama’s attempts as public relations in the wake of the oil spill have fallen flat. In June, the president appeared on The Today Show, telling Matt Lauer he talked with fishermen and oil spill experts “so I know whose ass to kick.” The statement was intended to make Obama appear tough and decisive, but it wound up causing him to look unpresidential and totally laughable. In August, the Obama family took a vacation to Panama City Beach, declaring the Gulf’s beaches “open for business.” The trouble is, despite Obama’s well-intentioned effort to boost Gulf tourism, Panama City Beach is far from the area hardest hit by the oil spill.

The Gulf oil spill has been a shining example of Obama’s inability to craft decisive, meaningful responses to issues. It has also been an example of what can go wrong when Obama attempts to rev up the public relations engine.

Obamacare

What many people will see as Obama’s greatest failure as president, and what will certainly go down as his largest legacy, is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare. Certainly, the blame falls equally on Democrats in both houses of Congress, but Obama made universal health care a focus of the first year of his presidency.

Obama began talking about health care reform as early as January 2007. In a speech to a health care advocacy group, he declare the following:

I am absolutely determined that by the end of the first term of the next president, we should have universal health care in this country.

The focus on a health care bill continued through the campaign and into 2009. Throughout 2009, opponents of universal health care became increasingly vocal. Town hall meetings were filled with impassioned voters, eager to express their opposition, and the Tea Party Movement really started to coalesce. The weekend the final bill was passed, a CNN poll showed 54% of those surveyed were opposed to the bill.

Despite the opposition, Obama and Congressional Democrats pressed on with the massive bills. They were so proud of their work that they convened special Sunday and Christmas Eve sessions to pass the bill when fewer people would be paying attention to current events.

Obama touted the bill as landmark legislation worth celebrating, but the true centerpiece of his first term is a $940 billion dollar package foisted on an electorate who largely do not want it. If that’s not the epitome of failure, I don’t know what is.

Barack Obama promised change. He offered a message of hope that resonated with millions, and that message swept him into office. It’s been painfully clear that the actual change he has brought forth has been a drastic lurch to the Left that has resulted in economic, domestic, and foreign policy wrecks and nightmares of public perception. If Obama’s presidency continues to fail as it has thus far, one can expect a different and welcome kind of change in 2012.

john, you can still purchase muni bonds. Some are tax free as well. Presently the tax free vehicles pay about one quarter of one percent. If you purchase them, you will lose or just about break even -once you factor in the cost of purchase commission paid to the broker.

FOR PETER:

Social Security Trust Fund

Social Security taxes are paid into the Social Security Trust Fund maintained by the U.S. Treasury (technically, the "Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund", as established by 42 U.S.C. § 401(a)). Current year expenses are paid from current Social Security tax revenues. When revenues exceed expenditures, as they have in most years, the excess is invested in special series, non-marketable U.S. Government bonds, thus the Social Security Trust Fund indirectly finances the federal government's general purpose deficit spending. In 2007, the cumulative excess of Social Security taxes and interest received over benefits paid out stood at $2.2 trillion. The Trust Fund is regarded by some as an accounting trick which holds no economic significance. Others argue that it has specific legal significance because the Treasury securities it holds are backed by the "full faith and credit" of the U.S. government, which has an obligation to repay its debt.

The Social Security Administration's authority to make benefit payments as granted by Congress extends only to its current revenues and existing Trust Fund balance, i.e., redemption of its holdings of Treasury securities. Therefore, Social Security's ability to make full payments once annual benefits exceed revenues depends in part on the federal government's ability to make good on the bonds that it has issued to the Social Security trust funds. As with any other federal obligation, the federal government's ability to repay Social Security is based on the power to tax and the commitment of the Congress to meet its obligations.

In 2009 the Office of the Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration calculated an unfunded obligation of $15.1 trillion for the Social Security program. The unfunded obligation is the difference between the present value of the cost of Social Security and the present value of the assets in the Trust Fund and the future scheduled tax income of the program. In the Actuarial Note explaining the calculation, the Office of the Chief Actuary wrote that "The term obligation is used in lieu of the term liability, because liability generally indicates a contractual obligation (as in the case of private pensions and insurance) that cannot be altered by the plan sponsor without the agreement of the plan participants."

All right John, lets play this scenario out. You believe that Obama wanted a better plan, perhaps single payer or government health care for all.…Agreed! However, the corporate bags from both parties watered down the bill for their own purpose….Well, they did water it down, possibly in part, for Corporate reasons but what other reason? Here is a hint: Who is going to pay for this government elite type plan? The answer is, THE PEOPLE. Who pays right now for THEIR government and public special interest plans? THE PEOPLE. Why did they focus on Insurance reform instead of lowering health care costs? If it was to make it better for the Insurance company’s then why do the Republicans want to repeal it? Could it be, that no matter how bad Obamacare gets, no matter how high the premiums go or how poor the coverage, the government elite will never have to worry because they don’t pay but THE PEOPLE do. So health care costs do not matter to them and insurance reform does not fix the overall problem for us.

So let the Corporations pay for the deficit and our healthcare so THE PEOPLE win, for a change. Who are we going to get to champion this cause? Obama? Then he needs to get the money from them, otherwise he is giving us a gift and making us pay with our money as well as our liberties.

"Defense where is it?" - John

Agreed! So you agree with this point in the pledge:

"•A plan to keep our nation secure at home and abroad."

And lets hold them to it, the right way. Whether Republican or Democrat we need to keep their feet to the fire. At least the pledge gives us something to hold them to.

So what are the Democrat ideas again?

In order for a true capatilist system to work, the govt must act a referee between the parties involved. ie the populace and the corporatist's. When the govt chooses sides....its over.

In regards to the 1200 page healthcare bill, I seriously doubt that any elected leaders wrote more than 10 pages of it. It was written by lobbyist'. I doubt that more than 10% of our elected leaders actually read and digested the entire 1200 page bill. Very sad.

Our elected leaders rely on corporate lobbyist to write bills. The federal govt is no longer a referee, but a willing participant on the side of coporations.

The other shoe is when citizens demand that the corporations be totaly responsible for the citizens life; like the above post about corporations paying for individual healthcare costs. That will never and should not ever happen.

"my 401k are in excellent health. I lost nothing because I had the economical foresight to..."-fred

And the vast masses of people who do not have your financial acumen, what of them? Do they deserve to have their savings slashed? Do they deserve to have years of work lost because they weren't sharp as a tack in financial matters? What do you do with the people who lost so much that they will have little more than Social Security? By what standard is financial intelligence the unforgiving decider of the fate of hard-working, good (if not shrewd) people? The newly poor aren't going to just go away after being object lessons in some personal responsibility fantasy/self-preening hubris; they're going to remain forever diminished and suffering through no fault of their own, something that would not happen with fully public, non-profit pension plans.

I await with bated breath your Tasmanian Devil impression.

you can purchase your state municipal bond funds from fidelity that pay close to 3%; If we followed some of the statements expressed here not to pay for social security and medicare they also should not pay for education nor for highway funds that you drive your car over. This logic would say we would not pay for research in health nor police protection nor airport funds and it would be up to the individual to fend for themselves. Also market timing is stupid by converting all your monies into money market funds. There are intelligent wall street financial wizards like john bogle of vanguard chris davis of new york venture and american funds. dennis statman of black rock global allocation funds and I seriously doubt any financial advisor would recommend investing in this matter. As far as the republican pledge to america it is nothing more than president bush old policies. In the last 20 months the republicans in the senate and the house have just sat on their hands and said no and now out of the blue they propose some great new plan. It is a plan to turn the us over to corporations and not progressive at all. Herbert Hoover would be proud of this collection of misfits in the republican party. The republican tax cuts did not work and now they want us to go out and borrow another 700 billion dollars to finance their wealthy tax cuts. Are they going to borrow it from china ? When clinton was in office he created 20 million jobss without a tax cut compared to bush tax cuts which only created 2 million. Let us hear some more bull and filthy vulgar language from Fred who in my opinion is a moroun.

This is my last comment because this is a message board not a football locker room>Every person has different views and this is not the fox network where any statement you make comes out of your filthy mouth and I am referring to fred. If you think I am going to sit back and listenj to your nonsense you are crazy. Like is said before this is a liberal message board and if you do not like it go go fox. Mags usually is against democrats and I usually disagree with her but I do not start a filthy statement. In come cases she is correct stating the tax system should be overhauled. Gail also writes about the democrats in albany and she is right. They are a disgrace to the voters their own party and to the nation and some members do not deserve to return to office. Again like I said before if you do not like my opionion thats to bad

Peter, you keep comparing to Bush but Bush had all Republican then a Democrat majority in his last two years. Clinton had a Republican majority. Voting in a Republican majority this November would be more like the Clinton administration then the Bush administration.

The 10 Most Common Elitist Denials That The American People Rejected Obama’s Policies:

October 2, 2010

The American citizenry have been called rubes, smelly, racists, fascists, rabble-rousers, insurgent, narrow-minded and xenophobic. Not by the likes of Ahmadinejad (he keeps it short and sweet at ‘Satan’) but by our own governmental and cultural elite. What’s got their cocktail circuit all atwitter?

You, me–us. We’re asserting our constitutional right to disagree with what’s happening to our country.

Instead of rolling over and taking the blows as we’re expected to, citizens are going to town hall meetings and voicing their opinions, and then going one step further–the ballot box.

Getting yelled at by an octogenarians was bad enough for politicians. Now with conservative candidates sweeping mid-term elections, the self-appointed elitists in government, academia, and the media are none too happy with the electorate. They are acting as if they’ve suddenly been savaged by a trusted family pet; despite the fact that they’ve been yanking on the pet’s tail all along.

Their failure is our fault. Just ask them, they’ll tell you…

1. We’re Islamaphobic When Known Terrorist Supporters Want to Build a Mosque at Ground Zero

80% of Americans oppose the building of the Cordoba House/Park 51 mosque at Ground Zero, and yet the President has come out in support of it via some mealy-mouthed response about freedom of religion. Critics of those opposed to the building of a victory mosque on the site of spilled blood have been threatened with government investigation by Pelosi, called xenophobic by musician John Legend and told to be ashamed of themselves by NY Mayor Bloomberg.

When was the last time Obama spoke out on behalf of religious people other than Muslims? Well, there was that one time, but I’m not sure if being called a “bitter clingers” counts as supportive. I wonder if he’ll be as supportive of another victory mosque should we get hit again.

After all, he’s confident we can “absorb it”.

2. We’re Considered Terrorists When the Real Bad Guys Just ‘Man-Caused Disasters’

For the first time since Gallup began asking the question, a majority of Americans call themselves pro-life—51% (to the 42% who call themselves pro-choice). Also for the first time ever, an administration official has labeled this majority as. In a document entitled Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano lists pro-lifers, as well as gun owners, veterans, and those opposed to illegal immigration as potential, home-grown terrorists. Meanwhile she can’t even bring herself to use the word when it comes to a group, say, like al Qaeda.

3. We’re Racists For Wanting Secured Borders

Speaking of illegal immigration, 55% of Americans support Arizona’s legislation which mirrors federal law (70% of Arizonans support it). And yet, elitists came out of the woodwork to chastise the citizens of this state who merely want their borders protected and the current laws upheld. From the Obama administration suing Arizona (while Obama, Holder, and Napolitano have admitted they haven’t actually read the law) to boycotts that are projected to cost the state 90 million dollars in revenue.

We’re told Obama might be a tad tone deaf on this issue. It’s not that he’s tone deaf, he that’s he willfully governing in opposition to the American people, and we’re supposed to accept that. This attitude was echoed by his quip to Arizona Senator McCain, “The election’s over.”

4. We’re Ungrateful Because We Keep Complaining About the Economy

While the effective unemployment rate climbs to nearly 22% during the so-called Summer of Recovery, the Obamas continue to vacation and party at the nation’s expense. We can’t help but wonder if this was what Obama meant when he told Joe the plumber that we need to spread the wealth around. Marie Antoinette’s adage rings in our ears (or perhaps in this case, it’s less cake and more arugula…because Michelle says we’re fat).

But the Obamas are only echoing what other elitists have said. In 2004 Hillary Clinton opined:

Many of you are well enough off that … the tax cuts may have helped you. We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.

Americans disagree with this attitude and Obama’s approval rating only continue to drop. We don’t want cake (or arugula)–just jobs.

5. We Supposed To Pony Up Our Own Taxes and Not Worry About Theirs

So why are we surprised when several administration officials are delinquent in paying their own taxes? They love to blame their wives, accountants, or Turbo Tax for holding back from Uncle Sam. But for Ma and Pop Average, what with the IRS gunning up and going after every last cent, it’s pay up or go to jail. It’s a tough pill to swallow when a record number of Americans are on some kind of public assistance. We’re told higher taxes are needed so we can fund entitlement programs, so it’s a little awkward when those demanding our money keep forgetting to fork over their own.

I suppose the elites will have their little foibles.

6. We’re Selfish In Thinking We Can Handle Our Money Better Than the Government

Just like the first Ponzi scheme (otherwise known as Social Security), the Stimulus Plan (aka Porkulus), runs on the same principle. Take money from taxpayers, run it through government coffers, then dole a little bit out here and here. I’m not sure why they needed to do that in the first place, or why they’re planning Porkulus Jr, because they still haven’t paid off the unions spent all of the TARP money yet. It’s a good thing the U.S Mint is churning out all that paper, even though the American people have opposed these programs by a substantial majority. But what do Americans know? They’re obviously too dumb to thrive. Surely the Hank Paulsons and Timothy Geithners are the financial wizards of smart.

At least that’s we’re continually being told by the elitists.

7. We’re Greedy For Wanting To Manage Our Own Financial Futures

One way to duck the heat for out-of-control spending is to blame it on someone else. Enter the Wall Street Financial Reform Act, because capitalism just plain sucks when you’re trying to destroy the economy. Or maybe I’m being cynical. Frank Dodd and Barney Frank—co-sponsors of the bill have proven themselves so above us when it comes to er, financial fitness. These elitists keep telling us that to help Main Street, they must punish regulate Wall Street. Up until a couple of years ago, a majority of Americans were invested in Wall Street with their retirements, much of which is now gone. So apparently Americans who opposed the Wall Street law just don’t know what’s good for them.

That’s funny, since they were the ones who earned it.

8. We’re Called ‘The Man’ When the UAW Wants to Play at Management

It used to be, Americans were considered savvy by tucking their retirement funds into corporations. And what better company than into an American giant with a long, distinguished history. At least until Obama took it over. General Motors came to be known as Government Motors and the shareholders—many retirees dependent on dividends were thrown under the, er, bus, so the unions (the victims) could rob the piggy bank and subjugate the evil Management.

Apparently Obama didn’t realize there’s already a failsafe for floundering companies. It’s called bankruptcy, which would’ve been the answer for GM to come out stronger on the other side.

Despite Obama’s denials that he had no interest in running a car company, he certainly took it over with alacrity. He does that a lot—takes things over with alacrity.

I don’t remember hearing that as part of his campaign platform. If it was, perhaps he would not have been elected, because Americans frown on this sort of Marxist behavior. Karl Marx—now there’s an elitist.

9. We’re Too Stupid to Finance College Loans Without Uncle Sam

Maybe Americans just need to get educated. Academia certainly stand behind their…tenure. Of course now it’s a leetle bit trickier to get a school loan since Obama took over the student loan program. Senator Lamar Alexander explained it this way:

All 19 million students who want government-backed loans will line up at offices designated by the U.S. Education Department. Gone will be the days when students and their colleges picked the lender that best fit their needs. Instead, a federal bureaucrat will make that choice for every student in America based on still-unclear guidelines.

It also forces out about 2,000 private lenders and the chance to find competitive loans. So now for the opportunity to be indoctrinated by Leftists elites, we’ll pay Uncle Sam directly back while thousands of employees in the student loan business lose their jobs?

That’s a one-two punch that should’ve received more coverage. But Americans were too panicked over health care reform to notice.

10. We’re Touched In the Head If We Think Obamacare Is Bad For Us

Healthcare reform—the crown jewel of Obama’s achievements. Helped along by elitists like Andrea Mitchell who told the 70% of Americans who opposed it (over 60% now want it repealed) they:

may not know what’s good for them.

Remember when we talked about more Americans being pro-life? Obama knows better about that, too, because now taxpayer dollars funds will go to pay for abortions. And Obamacare will creep into every area of our lives. Since the government is ‘paying’ for it, they can tell us what not to eat, how much to weigh, or whether a life is worth saving.

Yes, Virginia, there will be death panels.

I think that deep thinker Bill Press sums up the sentiment of the cocktail circuit who know better than us.

According to Bill, Americans are “…basically, spoiled — as a people, we are too critical. We are too quick to rush to judgment, we are too negative, we are too impatient. Especially impatient. We want it all solved yesterday, and if you don’t, I don’t care who you are — get out of the way. And again, basically spoiled. To the point where it makes me wonder if it’s even possible to govern today. I gotta tell you, I don’t think Abraham Lincoln — who certainly didn’t get everything right the first time — could govern today. I’m not sure Franklin Roosevelt could govern today, the way we are again. Just about like spoiled children. And it’s Americans, and it’s the media, and if we don’t get instant gratification, then screw you is basically our attitude.

Which means I forgot one: The hardworking, center-right-leaning, tax-paying citizens of this country are also ungovernable.
