Yes absolutely that is true but that is not the full story.

There are those on the right as you put it, "everyman for himself," that want very little government in their lives. Then there are those on the left that want a lot of government involvement but the right kind of government, not one that is owned by "Wall street". That seems to explain why the Left and OWS is more upset with Wall street then they are with government. They want Wall Street out of the way so that government can do their bidding. But for me, a government that serves some of the people / special interests or a government that is owned by Wall street is still not a good government.

When the Democrats owned all phases of government and forced through this health care bill or any bill against the will of so many, that to me was an example of living under an unfair special interest government. That is why the Dems lost the mid-terms. Certainly not due to anything the Republicans did that was positive. Bottom line is, we need a government that serves ALL people. John, so in your posts you express a sense of fair mindedness you are willing to call out both Obama and Romney and while we can agree on some points this is where we differ:

Romney represents more of a hands-off, every man for himself policy, while Obama represents more of a government overreach according to his ideals and vision policy. I don't agree with government overreach, I agree with choice. So I don't back Obama on that principle alone. Where as, you don't back Obama because he is not over reaching on the things you agree with like single payer. Nothing is free with big government. Everything comes with a price.

Still, there's one or two that keep expanding.
Can anyone see "which" components? Who has more stuff to add?

One of the other things that it does is insure that there are no flim-flam insurance rubes from absconding with the client paid premiums, or denying rightful payment under bogus or undisclosed exclusions/changes that were covered at inception. Contracts are made to be guarantees between both parties, that each will uphold their obligations. Healthcare is much to vital and serious to the individual and their families to play games with- w/ all this fine print exception bullcrap.
If one company finds itself with too much risk exposure with certain medical conditions, then there should be a way for all the insurance companies to participate if they "choose" in an assigned risk pool, just like we have with automobile insurance, which we've had for decades- and that 100% works just fine.

Romney is an everybody works for me, person, cold and impersonal opportunist liquidator, w/ a mean streak. Has no concept of how to reach across the class spectrum. Just listen to man speak. Whose children is he going to send to these wars and conflicts? I'm not concerned with private industry. I'm concerned with our Liberties. Single Payer is managed by the government, paid for by us and we have no choice in the matter.

Perhaps I can explain it better to you this way. Government runs the Military. I want them to because I don't want a private military. But when government runs anything we lose choice. Some Wars we may think are necessary but others we think are wrong. Yet whether we like it or not it is mandatory that we fund the conflicts we don't agree with. So the more government is involved in anything the less choices we have but we accept that for certain limited functions.

There really is only one question. Do you trust the choices government makes more then your trust your own? If your answer is Yes, then by all means, support MORE government.

There is something weird about your declaration of having "choice" in paying for your health insurance in so much as this, you are already paying for the deadbeats who either don't want or can't pay for insurance whenever they use Emergency services. Plus the 12million illegals and medicaid. There's absolutely no choice in the matter. you're already paying for them every which way you could imagine, once in the added premiums that your insurance demands for their participation w/ the hospital which pads their bill, twice, thrice, and 4x in your Federal, state and local municipality taxes for the upkeep of the hospital or clinic.

Single payer would sort out each treatment and within no time flat adjust premiums to fit the purpose.Just like with auto's.

John, single payer is not going to help much for illegals and deadbeats. It just creates a larger pool of people to pay for the deadbeats and the illegals.

The concept of "choice" is not weird or brain washing. Choice is the same as liberty and freedom. Complete choice in everything would be unfair to those who honestly need help. So we provide certain mandatory checks and balances to protect others. That is a big difference from the whole thing being mandatory, which takes away our freedom to choose on our own behalf.

So for example, there is nothing wrong with Medicare, a government health care plan, SS, Unions and so on. As long as we can choose for ourselves whether or not we want to be in them. If we have no choice, then we lose that freedom. If the only way a program works is by making it completely mandatory then there is something wrong with that program. If the program really is good and worthwhile then most people would choose to be part of it.
