I agree with the Govenor's veto,especially when other critical issues like health care, the state's budget and the economy are unresolved. Health care, the state's budget and the economy effect every citizen of New Jersey while same - sex marriage effects only a minute percentage of New Jersey's citizens.

Another reason to support the veto is due to same-sex marriage being considered a civil right. When I think of civil rights images of Afro-Americans being menaced by white policemen with German shephards, or women being denied the right to vote come to mind. While there are instances of homosexuals being treated horribly in New Jersey, there's no connection that can equate same-sex marriage with the obvious wrongs inflicted on Afro-Americans and the denial of a woman's right to vote.

Same-sex marriage is harmful to everyone because it undermines the family structure. Studies have been done that show that natural parents in a family setting have the lowest statistics of abuse of children. Divorce is detrimental to children and step parenting (an unnatural parent) has high abuse statistics. Same sex relationships have higher breakup statistics and even from the onset one parent in a same sex marriage will not be a natural parent. This is aside from all of the insanity going on in Calif where any gender specific terminology is removed. No use of the word mother or father etc. This is a slippery slope leading to determining who is a "legal" parent and will result in further instability. Where has the breakdown of family we have already seen ever helped kids? Who will be left to protect children when natural parents lose their rights to protect their own kids? Government??
